While the art style is still the "plastic" 2.5D look the series is known for, the backgrounds in this game are gorgeous. The "Acorn Plains" and "Layer-Cake Desert" are visually distinct and vibrant. The soundtrack is catchy and high-energy, fitting the chaotic multiplayer perfectly.
