The story is a unique blend of history and science fiction. It begins with a 20-minute historical segment depicting the life of Bodhidharma , a Pallava prince who traveled to China and became the founder of Zen Buddhism and the Shaolin Kung Fu. The film then shifts to the present day, where a genetic engineering student (Shruti Haasan) attempts to revive the dormant genes of Bodhidharma in his descendant, a happy-go-lucky circus artist played by Suriya.
