Broly’s father, Paragus, is outraged by this betrayal. He steals a ship and flies to Vampa to rescue his son. However, their ship is damaged upon landing, stranding them there for decades. Paragus raises Broly in isolation, training him to be a weapon of revenge against King Vegeta. In the present, the Galactic Frieza Army has been revived. Two soldiers, Cheelai and Lemo, pick up a distress signal from Vampa. They find Paragus and Broly and bring them to Frieza.
The story begins on Planet Vegeta, home of the Saiyans. King Vegeta learns that his son, Prince Vegeta, has an incredibly high power level. However, he discovers that a low-class Saiyan named Broly, born on the same day, has an even higher power level. Fearing Broly's potential to overshadow his son, King Vegeta exiles Broly to a harsh, distant planet called Vampa.
Seeing his father dead, Broly snaps. He explodes with power, transforming into the Legendary Super Saiyan. In this form, he is virtually unstoppable, thrashing both Goku and Vegeta in their Blue forms. Realizing they cannot win individually, Goku and Vegeta retreat momentarily. They decide to perform the Fusion Dance. After one failed attempt (creating the fat "Veku"), they successfully fuse into Gogeta .
Gogeta confronts the berserk Broly. The fight is intense and pushes Gogeta to transform into Super Saiyan Blue. Gogeta proves to be the superior fighter, skillfully countering Broly's wild attacks. Just as Gogeta prepares a final, deadly attack (the Stardust Breaker), Cheelai uses the Dragon Balls she collected earlier to wish for Broly to be sent back to Vampa, saving his life. Broly returns to Vampa, confused but alive. Goku (using Instant Transmission) travels to Vampa to meet Broly. Instead of fighting, Goku offers Broly a place to stay on Earth and supplies (capsules containing a house and food). Goku addresses him by his Saiyan birth name, "Kakarot," but Broly smiles.
Vegeta is overpowered, forcing Goku to step in. Goku fights Broly as a Super Saiyan God, but Broly’s power continues to climb terrifyingly. Frieza’s Cruelty While Goku and Vegeta fight for their lives, Frieza watches from the sidelines. Paragus is worried about Broly's lack of control. Frieza, desiring to push Broly into becoming a "Legendary Super Saiyan," kills Paragus with a death beam and blames it on the battle.
Vegeta fights Broly in his base form, then Super Saiyan, and finally Super Saiyan God. Broly adapts rapidly to Vegeta's power, learning to use his own ki and fighting techniques mid-battle. Broly eventually triggers a transformation into a "Wrathful" state—a form unique to him that utilizes the power of the Great Ape (Oozaru) in his humanoid body.
