Totally agree with you, Vintage. She was unique. I think part of her appeal was that she didn't look like she was "acting." She had a very calm, almost sensual presence that is rare. A lot of modern performers could learn a lot about pacing and atmosphere from her work.
She is one of the few from that era who aged like fine wine. Even her later content was high quality. It’s a shame she doesn't have a "legend" status Hall of Fame induction or something similar that is widely publicized.
